BEHIND THE SCENES

Poppy De Villeneuve is such an inspiring photographer, so I didn’t hesitate to say yes when NOWNESS asked me to do some “behind the scenes” pictures on the set of the film she was shooting. The short film is starring the super sweet Liu Wen as well as old school gangsta-like Edoardo Ballerini, whom you will see a lot more of on HBO’s new series “Boardwalk Empire” this fall. There are always so many beautiful moments happening during a shoot, sometimes small, little things that no one notices because everyone is focusing on what’s going on in front of the camera. The film aired today on NOWNESS and you can see more of my behind the scenes pictures here.

LOVED your photos. Really a treat to see you work with black and white. I have to say, they were much stronger than the film itself. Maybe you should start making films too :) Any three minute clip from a Wong Kar-wai film has more style and suspense than this one, and this short film seemed to be replicating his style pretty strongly–from the beautiful Asian acress with red lipstick and a trench coat à la Chungking Express, to the elusively romantic pull between strangers. I would love to see something you make though! I always enjoy your blog.

Bildene dine er såå mye finere og mer interessante enn filmen som jo er fullspekket av klisjeer fra start til slutt, med all den poseringen minner den meg mest om en påkostet parfymereklame. Svak kvinne + sterk mann, oldest story in the book. Og hun ser jo ut som hun holder på å få angstanfall i starten på gata?!

That shot by the pool is just beautiful. You captured that ‘moment’ with the ray of light shining in just so.
Can’t wait to see the final result, Liu Wen looks gorgeous even with the mad scientist hair!
